![]() With custom initial characters from the Julio-Claudia dynasty. It has historical Roman names for everything including Gods (like Jupiter, Mars, Neptune etc.) and religious head titles ( Pontifex Maximus). This mod adds the Pantheon Maioris Romanus religion to the game, which is a reformed & organized version of the true old Roman cults and religion called Mos Maiorum. If it didn't have high prestige it'd probably the sixth or seventh GP, not the third or fourth. This is the updated version of an alternative history mod that aims for the restoration of the true Roman Empire with the Roman religion and culture added to the former Byzantine Empire, which has been renamed the "Eastern Roman Empire." Oh, and only about 1/3rd of the population starts out as your primary culture. It's got military tech a bit worse than Prussia, industrial tech slightly worse than Britain, a relatively tiny population with very little possibility of expansion (specifically aside from Anatolia at the start of the game) without getting into major conflicts, and I believe I set the literacy to somewhere around 60%. I have no idea what's in the newer versions of that mod, and attempting to remove or update it would be an absolute nightmare and what exists already works pretty well. The mod is built upon an old, old, old version of Pop Demand Mod. I know a lot of people prefer Byzantium, though, so I've included an alternate localization file that replaces most of the references to my preferred name back to Byzantium. Rome can request assistance from Russia (if they are not allied already). The other European powers, namely Britain and France, see this as a threat to the balance of power, and attempt to intervene on behalf of the Egyptians. With the advent of Roman nationalism and pan-Christianism among the conservatives and upper-echelon of Rome, the Empire sets its sights on the Levant, held by the Mamluk Sultanate. The New Crusade: a kind of replacement for the Oriental Crisis and the Congress of Berlin. The birth of Greco-Roman nationalism and pan-Christianism, two volatile and extremely irredentist schools of thought that can either help or harm you - possibly both. More new events and decisions, and lots of new flavor. More that I can't remember off the top of my head. Apart from the imperial banner, almost all the flags were made specifically for this scenario. New custom-made flags for the new nations. Also includes various possible splinter states, as well as a couple extras. New nations: Rome, known as Rhomania or the Roman Empire a mid-rate great power straddling the Aegean. A Byzantium-focused Victoria II mod based upon the lore of the fantastic old Darkest Hour mod Byzantine Imperial Restoration from many years ago.Īfter a tumultuous history, going from the brink of destruction back to a regional power in the Mediterranean, Rome now stands on the edge: can they recapture the glory days, or are they resigned to third-rate status forever?
